Reishi – Ganoderma Tsugae
As passionate mushroom enthusiasts, we take pride in offering truly unique and newly discovered mushroom samples to the world. Our genetics come directly from the source, ensuring authenticity and full traceability. In August 2024, the Bas Mycology team ventured into the breathtaking hemlock old-growth forests of Northern Wisconsin, guided by expert foragers. These ancient woodlands, with their moss-covered floors and towering Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis), provided the perfect setting for our latest wild genetic discovery.
Following a carefully mapped 10-mile loop, we visited pre-marked locations where wild Ganoderma tsugae—a rare Reishi species that exclusively grows on Eastern Hemlock. This incredible fungus, named for its symbiotic relationship with Tsuga canadensis, highlights nature’s intricate ecological connections. We approach wild foraging with sustainability at the forefront, carefully selecting only small genetic samples while leaving the ecosystem undisturbed. By avoiding over-harvesting, we ensure the continued presence of these incredible fungi, preserving their role in the forest’s delicate balance.
Sourcing directly from nature and maintaining genetic integrity, we offer mycologists and cultivators access to verified, authentic Ganoderma tsugae strains, available now in our Liquid Culture Syringe collection. Our commitment to conservation ensures that future generations can continue to study, appreciate, and cultivate these extraordinary mushrooms. Keep an eye on our collection as we continue introducing rare, wild-foraged genetics with verifiable origins and a commitment to sustainability.
