About this culture

Lion’s mane is a wood-loving tooth fungus known for its cascading white spines. Each syringe holds live lion’s mane mycelium in sterile nutrient broth, ready to expand onto grain or agar.

What’s included

  • One 10 cc or 20 cc liquid culture syringe
  • One sterile hypodermic needle
  • One alcohol swab

How to use it

  • Grain: inoculate sterilized grain bags at about 5 cc per 3 lb bag, working in front of a flow hood or inside a still air box.
  • Agar: place a drop on a plate first to check the culture and expand it before grain work.
  • Fruiting substrate: lion’s mane grows best on Master’s Mix. It is a wood lover, so avoid CVG and coir mixes.

Storage and shelf life

  • Store refrigerated at about 40°F.
  • Use within 4–8 weeks of arrival for best results. Refrigerated cultures keep for 3–6 months.
