About this premix

Beyond Agar Premix is our all-purpose malt extract yeast agar (MEYA). It blends light malt extract, grain powder and yeast with a stabilizer that keeps the media smooth when pouring. The result is a robust, nutrient-rich agar that supports a wide range of fungi, from fast oysters to slower wood lovers.

Choose Beyond Agar if you want one dependable media for everything: cloning, isolation and expanding cultures. If you prefer a more refined, lab-grade plate for dialed-in workflows, see our Premium Malt Agar Premix.

How to use it

  1. Mix 50 g of premix per liter of distilled water.
  2. Sterilize at 15 PSI for 30 minutes.
  3. Swirl gently after sterilization to release bubbles.
  4. Pour about 20 mL per 90 mm petri dish while the media is still hot.

    This is a must have for anyone who is not as experienced with making agar. It’s all done for you, just weigh and mix! If you have been scared at trying your hand at agar, don’t be! This takes all the guess work out.
