About this substrate
CVGM is our manure-enriched take on the classic bulk substrate: coco coir, vermiculite, gypsum and composted manure (about 10%), hydrated to field capacity and pasteurized for 6 hours. We pasteurize rather than fully sterilize because it preserves beneficial microorganisms that help your mycelium colonize. The added manure gives the mix a more nutrient-rich, biologically active profile for monotubs and larger grows.
Every batch is packed in Unicorn filter-patch grow bags, ready to use.
Sizes
- 3 lb grow bag: mix your spawn right in the bag.
- 10 lb monotub refill: bulk substrate for a standard monotub.
How to use it
- 3 lb grow bag: add 1–2 parts colonized spawn to 3 parts substrate, mix it through the bag, seal it and incubate.
- 10 lb monotub refill: mix with 3–4 lb of colonized grain spawn in your tub.
- Work clean: sanitize your hands and surfaces before opening the bag.
Storage and shelf life
- Keeps about 6 weeks at room temperature.
- Can be frozen indefinitely. Thaw to room temperature before adding spawn.
